Policies and Procedures

The Board sets the district's strategic direction and overall goals by establishing and approving policies. In alignment with these goals, the Administration develops and implements operational procedures to guide the daily management of our schools and departments. To meet the district's evolving needs, the initiation, development, and review of these policies and procedures is an ongoing process. This work is maintained through collaborative consultation with families, staff, students, and community partners to ensure a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all.

Policy Review Process

  1. Review Cycle and Identification of Need
All policies are reviewed on a four-year cycle, as governed by the Board’s By-Law. The need for a new policy or updated document may be identified to address compliance, risk or a gap in operations beyond this cycle.
  2. Community Feedback
Documents set for review are posted for community feedback.
  3. Development and Revisions
Policies are revised by document owners, in line with Policy 1.1.9 Policy Development. Draft revisions are brought to Executive Council.
  4. Committee Review
Draft policies are brought to Governance and Policy Committee for review and feedback. The Committee then makes a recommendation to the Board.
  5. Approval
The Board approves the adoption, revision and revocation of policies.
  6. Communication and Distribution
Following Board approval, changes are communicated internally. Documents are updated on the district’s Policy Library.
